💡 Did you know that thousands of young people in Wales are missing out on their share of a whopping £73 million? Unbelievable, right? It turns out many young adults have no idea they’re sitting on unclaimed Child Trust Funds. These savings accounts were set up years ago, often by HMRC, and could be just what you need to help tackle financial struggles this coming winter.❄️

New data reveals over 36,000 young people in Wales haven’t accessed their funds. Shockingly, almost a third of these accounts belong to those from low-income backgrounds. With living costs rising and many families grappling with high energy bills, this could be a timely financial lifeline. 📉🔥
Charity The Share Foundation is on a mission to change this and help young people access their rightful funds. They’re advocating for the government to automatically release these funds once account holders reach 21. Imagine turning 21 and suddenly having access to savings you didn’t even know about! 🙌💰

Gavin Oldham from The Share Foundation stresses the urgency: “Child poverty is a huge issue today. This money is theirs, and unlocking it could transform lives, especially as winter approaches.”

To date, The Share Foundation has helped over 105,000 young adults recover over £237 million. They’re calling for government action, supported by former ministers and parliamentarians, for automatic release of these matured funds.
If you haven’t checked already, now’s the time to see if you’re one of those with an unclaimed Child Trust Fund. This could be the break you or someone you know has been waiting for. Let’s spread the word and make sure everyone gets their due! 🗣️💪
