A pub in Briton Ferry has recently been under the spotlight after numerous reports revealed underage drinking and anti-social antics. In just a short span from July 11 to July 30, 2024, the pub had a staggering seven reports against it, including a large-scale fight and multiple underage drinking scenarios. A February 2025 inspection shockingly found two teens, aged 16 and 17, sipping away with no age checks in place! 🕵️‍♂️

South Wales Police highlighted the “significant and prolonged failure” of the pub’s management in upholding proper licensing rules. After serious discussions, an agreement was reached to fix things, adding new conditions like implementing a Challenge 25 policy and banning anyone under 18 from the premises.

To turn things around, signs enforcing the new rules are now up, and the change is already working! There haven’t been any new reports of underage drinking since. Police, alongside the licensing team, will continue surprise visits and test purchases to keep everything in check. ✔️

Admiral Taverns, which holds the pub’s licence, is committing to compliance, with plans for substantial investment in the pub’s future. Let’s hope The Crown Inn can turn over a new leaf! 🌿
