After a shocking campaign of digital harassment, entrepreneur Brad Burton and tech entrepreneur Naomi Timperley’s nightmare has finally ended. It started with a brief encounter back in 2019, and what followed was a relentless barrage of false accusations, courtesy of Samantha Wall, 55, from Cheadle, Stockport.
Wall fabricated wild lies about Brad, including claims about past crimes, poisoning cats, and even inventing a psychopathic twin! Naomi wasn’t spared either, facing years of online defamation. The impact was devastating, tarnishing reputations and plunging them into a battle for their peace of mind.
With expertise in social media, Wall amplified her claims, creating an ‘online witch hunt’ that led to sleepless nights and severe stress for both victims. The relentless digital assault forced Brad to put his main business into insolvency, and both Brad and Naomi sought mental health support as a result.
However, justice has been served! Wall received a two-year and four-month prison sentence at Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court for her actions. The judge acknowledged Wall’s mental health issues but was clear that it didn’t excuse her conduct.
Brad expressed relief that this chapter is closing but emphasised the need for social media giants to step up and take responsibility. Naomi described the ordeal as being hunted through hashtags and stressed the importance of speaking out against such crimes.
