๐๐ซ Top of the Class: Wales’ School Attendance Champs! ๐โจ

Hey parents and education enthusiasts, let’s shine a spotlight on the standout schools in Wales with unbeatable attendance rates! The Welsh Government is hot on the trail to boost school attendance post-pandemic, and they’ve unveiled some inspiring examples worth sharing.

๐ Leading the pack is Ygol Gymraeg Caerffili, achieving a jaw-dropping attendance of 98.2% this September! This is especially impressive given the schoolโs catchment taps into some of Wales’ most deprived areas. For context, the average attendance for primary schools across Wales is 93.4%, while secondaries sit at 90.6%.

๐ Currently, around 8.2% of school sessions are missed across Wales, with the highest absence in regions like Carmarthenshire and Rhondda Cynon Taf, both hitting 9%. Meanwhile, Monmouthshire schools are setting an excellent example with the lowest absence rate of 6.6%.
๐ฏ The Welsh Government’s attendance task force is on a mission to bring these numbers down and get more kids back in classrooms. Theyโre working with local councils and schools, encouraging them to make the most of family engagement officer funding.
๐ซ Most of the high-attendance schools are primaries, predominantly located in Monmouthshire, proving that team effort pays off!
๐ Letโs hope more schools can adopt these best practices to keep our children curious, learning, and thriving. After all, every day spent in school is a step towards a brighter future!
