π£ Big news in Rhondda Cynon Taf! Councillor Andrew Morgan, the longest-serving council leader in Wales, has announced that he will step down before this year’s AGM. After leading the council for 12 transformative years, Andrew wonβt seek re-election in 2027. π

First elected in 2004, Andrew has played a pivotal role in the region, navigating through challenges such as the severe flooding of 2020 and the global pandemic. His leadership was recognised with an OBE in June 2022 for his incredible public service!

π₯ Over the years, Andrew has championed local talent, investing in 400 apprenticeships and 150 graduate positions, making Rhondda Cynon Taf the largest local employer. His legacy includes a Β£1bn investment in new 21st-century schools and care facilities.
Reflecting on his time, Andrew says it’s been a privilege to serve his community in Mountain Ash and to lead the council through both tough and triumphant times. He plans to pave the way for new leadership, ensuring a bright future for the council and the community.
Thank you, Andrew, for your dedication and service! π
