🚨 Warning for Beachgoers! 🚨

If you were planning a dip at Llandudno’s West Shore beach, hold off for now! Authorities have discovered faecal bacteria lurking in those inviting waters. ⚠️
Both locals and tourists are being advised to steer clear of swimming and paddling until further notice. This concern sparked after recent samples showed elevated levels of intestinal Enterococci—yikes!

The culprit? Discharges from local storm overflows are under scrutiny, with one overflowing more than 50 times in the past three months alone. Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water is investigating potential false readings from their systems, but the mix of factors, including agricultural runoff and misconnected domestic pipes, could be to blame.

Llandudno councillors are urging everyone to share this crucial info and keep an eye out for warning signs down at the beach. 🌊 Signs are expected to be displayed soon, cautioning against entering the waters.
In the meantime, Natural Resources Wales is working to get this sorted and hopes to see improvements soon. They’ve taken this matter seriously, especially since West Shore beach’s water quality rating has recently dropped. Let’s hope they’re on top of it! 🤞
Please spread the word to help keep everyone safe! 💬
Stay updated for more info on when it will be safe to splash around again. Until then, enjoy the shore from a safe distance! 📸 #Llandudno #BeachSafety #StayInformed
