Our dedicated RNLI volunteers are doing their best, but operating the beloved lifeboat shop from a pop-up location isn’t quite the same. Since issues closed the Β£11m all-weather lifeboat station at Mumbles Pier, they’ve relocated to All Saints Church in Mumbles. Although grateful for a temporary spot, the volunteer team is finding it tough going: “It’s soul-destroying not being where we belong.”

The shop now sells its goodies like mugs, T-shirts, and dog leads from the church – but footfall’s down, and the heartfelt chats with locals and visitors about the lifeboat’s vital role are sorely missed. πŸΆπŸ‘•

Why the move? Problems with the pier’s structure identified in early 2023 mean the lifeboat is moored out at sea. Crew access it via an onshore launch vessel for rescues, adding another layer of challenge.

Canon Hugh Lervy from All Saints Church kindly offered the space, pointing out it’s a small gesture in aid of such a worthy cause. The RNLI is deeply thankful but determined to find a long-term solution with the pier’s owners. πŸ—οΈ

The charity is working hard to resolve this complex situation and return the all-weather lifeboat to its rightful place. Every bit of support counts, and the RNLI truly appreciates the community’s patience and understanding.

Let’s rally together for our lifeboat heroes and help get them back to where they belong. 🌊 #SupportMumblesRNLI #CommunitySpirit #LifeboatsSaveLives
