**Family of Tracey Davies Pays Emotional Tribute After Tragic Loss in Cefn Cribwr**
The family of Tracey Davies, a devoted mother and a woman described as the “life and soul of the party,” have spoken of their heartbreak following her tragic death in Cefn Cribwr, Bridgend last month. Ms Davies, 48, was found dead at her home on April 18, leaving her loved ones in a state of shock and disbelief. Her husband, Michael Davies, has been charged with her murder and appeared in Cardiff Crown Court on April 29. He is expected to appear in court again later this month.
In the days since the tragedy, Tracey’s family have opened up about the profound impact she had not only on them but on her community and the people she supported throughout her life. As they struggle to come to terms with their loss, they have shared fond memories and paid tribute to the woman they describe as irreplaceable.
Tracey Davies, formerly known as Tracey Young, grew up in Cornelly near Porthcawl and spent much of her career as a carer in the social care sector, working with vulnerable individuals. It is a role her family says epitomised her generous and caring nature. Since her untimely death, messages from former clients and colleagues have poured in, a testament to how many lives she touched.
Her cousin Anne-Marie Griffiths, 38, called Tracey “an amazing and supportive person who everybody adored.” She recalled, “There was never a dull moment when Tracey was around. She was always lively, always encouraging. You could hear her cheering, making everyone feel safe and supported. She left her mark on everyone she met.”
Tracey’s sister, Julie Reeve, 44, described the unique bond she shared with Tracey. “She absolutely adored her children, they were her life,” Julie said, referring to Tracey’s two children, Danielle Young, 29, and Callum Young, 19. “She would always make sure we celebrated together, even when I didn’t feel like going out. I’m grateful she convinced me—the memories of our last night out together mean the world.”
Family photos reveal the close connections Tracey shared with her loved ones. Anne-Marie recollected how Tracey championed her family’s achievements, saying, “She was the biggest cheerleader for us all. It’s so hard to accept she’s gone – it feels unreal, like someone else’s nightmare.” The pain is heightened by the family’s ongoing struggle to support Tracey’s children as they navigate this loss.
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched by the family to assist Danielle and Callum during this immensely difficult time. According to Anne-Marie, “They’ve lost their whole world. We simply want to relieve a little of their burden so they can focus on grieving and healing.” The response has been overwhelming, with over £7,000 raised in the campaign’s first three days and countless messages of kindness and support flowing in.
Though comfort is hard to find in the wake of such tragedy, the messages from friends, former colleagues, and those whose lives Tracey touched have provided some solace. “It just makes us feel so proud of Tracey,” Anne-Marie shared. “We’re deeply grateful for every message and donation. It’s clear how much she was loved and how many lives she influenced.”
Recalling Tracey’s vibrant personality, her family described her as outgoing and social, a passionate fan of live music, and a lover of ‘getting glammed up’. Julie reflected: “There was never any stopping her. Tracey would always push me out of my comfort zone in the most caring way. She made sure there was laughter and togetherness.”
South Wales Police were called to the property in Bryn Terrace, Cefn Cribwr, on the evening of April 18 after reports of concern for the welfare of two people. Upon arrival, officers discovered Tracey’s body and arrested Michael Davies at the scene.
As the investigation continues, Tracey’s family are trying to take life day by day, focusing their energy on supporting her children. “We’re taking things one step at a time,” said Anne-Marie, “and it still hasn’t sunk in. All we can do is stand together and honour Tracey’s memory by helping Danielle and Callum as best we can.”
The family have urged anyone wishing to offer support to visit their GoFundMe page, expressing heartfelt thanks for the ongoing generosity shown by the wider community. As they attempt to move forward, the outpouring of love and respect for Tracey Davies serves as a poignant reminder of the enduring legacy left by a woman who lived life to the fullest and deeply touched all who knew her.
