🚧 Heads up, M4 Drivers! 🚧
Planning a journey this weekend? Be prepared for some disruptions along the M4 between Bridgend and Neath Port Talbot. Roadworks mean two lanes are closed and narrow lanes are in place in both directions between J37 A4229 (Pyle/Porthcawl) and J38 A48 (Margam).
But don’t worry! Traffic Wales has assured us that two running lanes will remain available during most of the work, with full closures limited to overnight. So, travel should be relatively smooth – just maybe allow a bit of extra time.
Other areas to watch out for:
– M48 Severn Bridge still has a temporary 7.5-tonne weight limit, affecting lorries due to ongoing bridge maintenance, but buses and coaches can cross as normal.
– In Cardiff, work addressing hazardous trees near the M4 between J33 (Cardiff West Interchange) and the Prince of Wales Bridge is ongoing till January 2026.
– Essential maintenance on M4 Coryton North and Coryton South Footbridges will continue till January 2026.
– Re-waterproofing and resurfacing on the M4 Prince of Wales Bridge aims to keep at least two lanes running in both directions, offering the M48 Severn Bridge as an alternative.
