๐ Exciting news for Swansea families! ๐ Free childcare is now available for all two-year-olds in the city, thanks to Welsh Government funding. Following in the footsteps of Merthyr Tydfil, Swansea is the second local authority in Wales to expand this fantastic initiative.

The Flying Start scheme offers fully-funded, high-quality childcare for two-and-a-half hours a day, five days a week. That means eligible parents can enjoy up to 12.5 hours of government-funded care per week, for 39 weeks a year. ๐

But it doesn’t stop there! For parents of three and four-year-olds, there’s the impressive offer of up to 30 hours a week of nursery education and childcare. This includes 10 hours of nursery education and 20 hours of childcare. So, whether it’s during term-time or school holidays, there’s support available to suit your needs!
Minister for Children and Social Care, Dawn Bowden, emphasised the impact of these programmes, stating: “Our childcare programmes make a real difference for children and their families.”
This expansion is part of a wider investment in early years care, with a total budget exceeding ยฃ150 million this year alone.
