## Anglesey Community Celebrates Postcode Lottery Windfall, With One Resident Claiming £400,000 Jackpot

Hundreds of inhabitants in the Anglesey area have received an unexpected financial boost after the People’s Postcode Lottery’s Millionaire Street draw landed on the LL60 6NF postcode in Llangaffo. While one fortunate local has bagged the lion’s share of the prize, worth more than £400,000, the entire community has been swept up in the excitement, as a total of £1 million was distributed among neighbours in the surrounding postcode area.

The main winner, who has chosen to remain anonymous, walked away with a staggering £402,860. Meanwhile, a further 238 people living within the broader LL60 6 catchment picked up substantial prizes themselves, ranging from several thousand pounds to sizeable four-figure sums, depending on how many tickets each resident held.
Two players, each holding three tickets, have banked £6,837 apiece. Twenty others, with two tickets each, were rewarded with £4,558, while 216 participants received £2,279 for their single tickets. Such a spread has contributed to a tangible sense of celebration throughout Llangaffo and its adjoining neighbourhoods, cementing the draw as one of the most memorable local events in recent times.
Matt Johnson, a well-known ambassador for the People’s Postcode Lottery, expressed joy at the scale of the win, remarking: “Anglesey is known for famous faces, but today it’s famous for its big winners. It’s fantastic to see not just one, but hundreds of people benefit. This kind of surprise brings whole communities together. As we’d say in Wales, ‘Llongyfarchiadau pawb! Congratulations everyone!’”
Beyond the communities’ personal windfalls, the draw has also delivered much-needed funding to local charities. Among the beneficiaries is Snowdonia Donkeys, based near Bangor in Gwynedd, which has received a grant of £30,000. The charity offers a haven for rescued donkeys, supporting both animals and their owners, as well as running programmes to promote human wellbeing through therapeutic interactions and nature conservation at their base.
Ruth Stronge, CEO of Snowdonia Donkeys, expressed her gratitude to lottery players for their support, saying: “This funding means the world to us. It allows us to continue our mission—helping both donkeys and people. Thanks to this generous donation, we’ll be able to run more ‘donkey time’ sessions—therapeutic activities that have a tangible impact on people’s physical and mental health—and help more donkeys find loving foster homes.”
Other essential organisations have also benefited from the latest round of grants courtesy of the Postcode Community Trust. Age Cymru Gwynedd a Môn, a service provider for those over the age of 50 in the region, received a significant £40,000 injection. This will help the charity continue its work championing independence and quality of life for older residents and their carers.
Similarly, Digartref CYF, which has supported those affected by homelessness since 1998, has also been awarded £40,000. The funding will strengthen the charity’s ability to provide both immediate and long-term solutions for people facing housing insecurity—an issue that remains a pressing concern in Wales and across the UK.
Another crucial recipient, Anglesey Foodbank, has accepted £30,000. The foodbank, which is part of the Trussell Trust’s national network, provides nutritionally balanced emergency food parcels to individuals and families in crisis situations. This additional funding will be crucial in helping the foodbank tackle rising levels of food poverty and hunger in the community.
With financial prizes transforming the lives of residents and charitable donations promising a lasting legacy, Anglesey’s postcode has truly lived up to its reputation for unity and sharing good fortune. The communal nature of the win, along with considerable support for local services, highlights the wider benefits of lottery draws, extending far beyond a single lucky ticket-holder.
