π’ Big News at the BBC! π’

Rhodri Talfan Davies, currently the BBC’s director of nations, is stepping up as the interim director-general! Starting in April, Rhodri will bring his passion for public service broadcasting to the forefront, just in time to guide the BBC through some challenging times.

Cardiff-born Rhodri has been an impressive figure in the industry, managing BBC services across the UK since 2021. Heβs been pivotal in leading the BBC’s “Across The UK” strategy, which aims to decentralise the organisation and has been working on integrating AI technology within the corporation.
His previous roles include heading regional programmes at BBC West and serving as director of BBC Cymru Wales. With his extensive experience and commitment, Rhodri is all set to make a significant impact.
In the meantime, Rhuanedd Richards will continue as interim nations director as the search for a permanent director-general is underway.
Outgoing director-general Tim Davie had a notable tenure, with highs and lows, and will be bidding farewell soon after steering the BBC since 2020. He leaves amidst discussions about the future of the BBC, following controversies like the editing of Donald Trump’s speech for a Panorama documentary.
Everyone at the BBC is gearing up to support Rhodri during this transition. With such an accomplished and dedicated leader at the helm, exciting times lie ahead for the broadcaster.
