🚗🚦 Big changes are coming to road safety in Wales! 🎉 A groundbreaking new strategy is set to shake things up, introducing lower drink-drive limits and aiming to make our roads safer than ever.

🚫🍷 Catching up with Scotland, the drink-drive limit will drop from 35 to 22 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml of breath in both Wales and England. This could be a game-changer in reducing accidents and saving lives.

But that’s just the start! Here’s what’s in store:
👓 Compulsory vision tests for drivers aged 70 and over – ensuring everyone’s got their eyes on the road.

⏰ A new minimum learning period for newbies hitting the road – because patience is key when it comes to safety!
🔒 And for those who’ve been caught drink driving, alcolocks (breath-test-enabled ignition locks) could soon be mandatory to get back behind the wheel.
With the goal to slash road deaths and serious injuries by 65% by 2035, this could mark a major turning point. Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander emphasises, “Every life lost on our roads is a tragedy…This strategy marks a turning point.”
Safety groups are cheering the move, but they’re stressing the need for tough enforcement. Karen Tyrell from Drinkaware warns of rising fatalities from drink-driving collisions, while RAC spokesperson Rod Dennis says, “It can’t come soon enough.”
