The first snowfall of 2026 has hit Wales, and it’s not just a light sprinkle! The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for snow and ice from Friday to Monday. Expect “significant snow flurries” this weekend, with up to 8cm predicted in some areas, especially on higher ground.
With temperatures dropping, travel disruptions are likely on the cards. Roads are already treacherous, particularly up north with multiple crashes reported on the A55. As a precaution, officials are advising only essential travel, allowing extra time for journeys, slowing down, and keeping safe distances.
In Powys, the Dyfed-Powys Police have flagged up hazardous driving conditions on the A483. Meanwhile, the A55 near Bangor is completely blocked in both directions due to ice, causing significant delays.
