In an incredibly tragic turn of events, two young children have been named by police after being found dead at a home in Stafford. Meraj Ul Zahra, aged two, and Abdul Momin Alfaateh, aged three, were discovered unresponsive with injuries on Sunday morning on Corporation Street. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, they couldn’t be saved and were sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
A 43-year-old woman from the Stafford area has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody as investigations continue. The children’s family is being supported during this devastating time.
The case has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) following recent police contact with the family, which is standard procedure in such situations. The IOPC is assessing the referral to determine if further action is needed.
The peace of the street was shattered on Sunday as residents witnessed a forensics van and police car at the scene. Luke Browne, a local resident, expressed the community’s shock and heartbreak, highlighting the horror of losing children in such tragic circumstances.
