A trip to the hospital has turned into a nightmare for Sheila Williams, an 85-year-old from Aberdare. After being rushed to Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil with a serious health scare, Sheila is now grappling with another distressing issue: her cherished jewellery worth £30,000 has vanished.
Sheila was admitted on 6th August after a head injury and recalls the staff removing her jewellery upon arrival for safekeeping. However, when her family visited the next day, they were shocked to discover that her belongings, including invaluable gold and diamond pieces, were nowhere to be found.
The missing items include three gold bracelets, five precious rings, and a necklace, all of which hold deep sentimental value for Sheila. Particularly heart-wrenching is the loss of her wedding band, a treasured memento now reportedly either misplaced or mixed up with hospital laundry.
The family suspects the jewellery was stolen and have reported the incident to South Wales Police, who are investigating. They hope someone with information will come forward, and Sheila has offered a reward for any leads on her missing treasures.
Sheila, still recovering in the hospital, shared her disappointment, saying, “At a time when I was vulnerable and focused on my health, I should have felt safe and cared for – not worried about my personal belongings being taken.”
