Speaking with S4C, McElhenney made it clear that while reaching the Premier League is a real goal, it’s all about doing it the right way. “That’s the way the pyramid is set up, and why not us?” he said, adding that it’s not just about getting there fast but building a lasting legacy as they ascend.
But it’s not all smooth sailing. Some dedicated Wrexham fans have voiced concerns. With the Racecourse Ground currently undergoing renovations and the need to establish a new permanent training base, there’s more to consider than just the glory of top-flight football. McElhenney is all ears, stating, “We have to make sure that we’re always checking in with the community to make sure that this is what they want.”
And while the ultimate goal is winning the Premier League, McElhenney emphasised that this journey is about creating something sustainable for future generations. “We don’t want to build something that’s unsustainable… It’s building something for the next generation.”
