Young British girl, aged seven, missing after being carried away by ocean currents during vacation

Heartbreaking news from Morocco as a seven-year-old girl from Blackburn, named Inaayah Makda, has gone missing after a wave swept her into the sea while she was on holiday. The incident occurred on a beach in the coastal city of Casablanca, where she was sitting on rocks with her parents when a large wave hit, according to her family.

Blackburn’s independent MP, Adnan Hussain, has been in touch with Inaayah’s family, offering support and emphasising the community’s unity in hope and prayers for the little girl’s safe return. “I am heartbroken by the news. My thoughts and prayers are with her family at this unimaginably painful time,” he shared on social media.

However, Mr Hussain expressed frustration with the response from the Moroccan authorities, describing his attempts to reach the embassy as “incredibly disappointing.” Despite several unanswered emails and phone calls, he personally visited the embassy but couldn’t get in touch with the ambassador or his office.

Meanwhile, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office is providing support to Inaayah’s family and is in contact with local authorities.
