A teenager wrapped up in the criminal world faced a dangerous side of life after amassing a significant drugs debt. William Decarvalho, 19, was involved in heroin and crack cocaine dealing and paid a heavy price by getting both shot and stabbed.

His illegal activities were brought to light when police in Cardiff spotted him dealing. Decked out in a black coat and balaclava, Decarvalho met three known drug users at Fitzalan Place, Adamsdown, rolling up on his bike for a suspicious exchange. Though he tried to flee, police nabbed him, discovering a machete, cash, and four wraps of crack cocaine during their search.
In court, he pleaded guilty to several charges, including possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and carrying a bladed article. Though previously of good character, Decarvalho’s counsel revealed his challenging past, highlighting immaturity and a tough upbringing that led him astray.

Judge Jeremy Jenkins made it clear that Decarvalho’s association with drugs and the underworld warranted serious consequences. At just 19, he now faces 28 months in a young offenders’ institute. This case serves as a stark reminder of the perilous path of drug crime.
