5-Year-Old’s Tragic Passing Linked to Undetected Medical Condition Following Initial Doctor Visit

Heartbreaking news as a five-year-old girl from Cimla, Aria Rose George, has passed away just days after falling ill. Little Aria wasn’t known to have any medical conditions, but suddenly became unwell at the end of September 2024. After visiting her GP and Neath Port Talbot Hospital, she was transferred to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff. Tragically, she was diagnosed with a global intracerebral bleed with hydrocephalus and acute myeloid leukaemia. Despite the tireless efforts of medical teams, Aria was placed in “supportive comfort care” and sadly died on September 27.

An inquest has been opened to explore whether earlier treatment could have changed the outcome. With a heart heavy in grief, the Senior Coroner extended deepest condolences to her family and stressed the importance of understanding the circumstances behind this tragedy.
