🚨 Tragic Incident in South Derbyshire 🚨
A police chase turned deadly when a man entered floodwaters during a pursuit and could not be saved. 🚔💔 The drama unfolded in the early hours near Egginton and involved a vehicle towing a stolen caravan. When the chase hit a standstill, the suspects made a break for it, with police quickly making one arrest.
Meanwhile, the second man dove into the flooded Egginton Brook, and an extensive search by police and fire services began. After several tense hours, he was found and rushed to Royal Derby Hospital, but heartbreakingly, it was too late. 😢
Due to the nature of the incident, and with it involving police contact, the case has been automatically referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
The man arrested in the chase, Adrian Osiecki from Coventry, is now facing serious charges, including dangerous driving, criminal damage, and theft. He’ll be appearing in court soon to face the music.
