As he greeted a young man named Kade Wren, everything went south. The 21-year-old, who happened to be sitting on a bench near the Blaina Wharf pub, took offense at the friendly greeting. In court, it was revealed that Wren, who lives in hostels, has a history of offences, making this not an isolated incident. His legal representation admitted that Wren’s actions were “totally unacceptable,” acknowledging that the reaction was excessive and uncalled for. Wren, it turns out, had a troubled upbringing, including a heartbreaking early battle with heroin dependency as an infant, which added context to his struggles today.
