🚨 Bold break-in at top Cardiff eatery! 🚨

Uisce, the popular wine and oyster bar in Pontcanna, was targeted by a masked intruder in the early hours of the morning. Despite extensive CCTV and alarms, the burglar shattered the front door, dashed in, and swiped a few bottles of alcohol before the alarmed neighbourhood could react.
Irish-born chef Tommy Heaney and his partner Nikki, fresh home from a long day at their restaurant, received the shocking alert via their security system. They rushed back to find the premises had been hit.

In the CCTV footage, the thief can be seen cycling up to Heaney’s other restaurant nearby, parking the bike, and making his way to Uisce. After a fruitless search, he grabbed a couple of bottles, calmly exited back through the broken window, and cycled away – all while the alarm was blaring!
This incident follows a similar break-in at Burger Boyz just a week prior, leading many to suspect the same thief due to striking similarities in appearance and behaviour. At Burger Boyz, the intruder lingered for about 20 minutes, causing chaos and escaping with a small amount of cash.
Tommy, determined to catch the perpetrator, has shared the CCTV footage in hopes of garnering information and alerting other businesses. Thankfully, quick repairs by Nikki’s dad meant it was business as usual at Uisce the next day.
The frustration is palpable as businesses have to deal with the aftermath of break-ins, often after grueling shifts. Tommy stressed the disruption caused by such incidents, stating, “For about £50 worth of stock, we lost precious hours of sleep and faced significant hassle.”
South Wales Police have launched an investigation and are considering potential links to other recent burglaries in the area. Businesses are encouraged to review their security measures and ensure there’s no cash left on the premises overnight.
