Tragedy struck a quiet Oxfordshire village as a devastating incident unfolded, leaving a nine-year-old girl dead and a woman fighting for her life. On Tuesday, emergency services rushed to a property in Islip’s Middle Street following reports of a violent assault involving three children. Heartbreakingly, the young girl was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other children were also hurt but, thankfully, have since been discharged from hospital.
Thames Valley Police have confirmed that a 49-year-old woman is in hospital under police watch and is in a “life-threatening condition.” They have assured the public that no one else is being sought in connection with this tragic event.
Detective Inspector Amy Fox expressed deep sympathy, saying, “This is an unimaginable tragedy, and we are doing everything we can to support those affected.” The girl’s family is receiving support from specially trained officers during what must be an incredibly difficult time.
