Julia Wandelt, 24, took the stand recently in Leicester Crown Court as she addressed allegations regarding her claims of being Madeleine McCann and stalking her family. Julia, who hails from Lubin, Poland, revealed she struggles with her identity due to childhood trauma. She recalls very little from her early years apart from experiences of abuse, particularly at the hands of a step-grandfather. Julia insists her intentions were never to gain attention or money but to seek the truth about her past.
In court, Julia shared a poignant encounter with a psychologist that led her to question her life’s story and motivated her to confront her parents about their blood types and request a DNA test—requests her parents declined, which left her feeling bewildered.
