Cracknell’s journey has been quite the adventure! Originally spotted in South Africa, former rugby ace Rupert Moon played a huge role in his career, using a bit of cheeky persistence to get him on board with RGC. Moon admits he “stalked” young Cracknell, convincing him to chase his rugby dreams in Wales. Moon’s determination paid off, leading Olly into the Welsh rugby system and onto the Ospreys, where he shone under Steve Tandy’s guidance.
At just 31, Olly has made impressive strides from humble beginnings. His early days in South Africa were tough but rewarding, and he even took on the challenge of bulking up to meet the demands of top-flight rugby. Thanks to his dedication, he quickly caught the eye of the Wales U20s and then the Ospreys, becoming a fan favourite.
Through ups and downs, including changes at the Ospreys, Olly’s resilience has been undeniable. He’s played 177 games for the Welsh region and moved on to London Irish and Leicester Tigers, proving his versatility and grit on the field.
