In an unexpected twist, police raids have uncovered a treasure trove of illegal goods cleverly hidden behind false walls and even inside fridges at vape shops in Colwyn Bay and Llandudno! 🕵️♀️
Last week, North Wales Police teamed up with trading standards, immigration officers, and fire fighters to conduct surprise inspections. The operation, dubbed “Machinize,” is part of a broader initiative to tackle money laundering and cash-heavy high street operations.
During these raids, officers discovered an alarming amount of illegal tobacco and cigarettes meticulously concealed within the premises. Some shops had gone to great lengths to obscure their contraband, but not lengths long enough. The illegal stash was sniffed out and seized, much to the dismay of those involved.
A police spokesperson highlighted that while these shops made significant efforts to hide their products, the hides were not enough to keep them from being uncovered. They even attempted to mask the scent from detection dogs by storing tobacco in fridges!
Local authorities are urging anyone with suspicions about businesses in the West Conwy area to come forward, as community vigilance plays a crucial role in combatting such illegal activities.
