A heartfelt story from Wales: Damon Filmer, 38, cancelled his drive home due to blurred vision, only to end up in a coma. This loving dad and devoted husband from Tonypandy has suffered a catastrophic brain bleed and is now fighting for his life in intensive care after emergency surgery.

Damon’s friend, Shaun Green, recalls their early days playing rugby together and shares the shock of receiving such devastating news. Damon was supposed to drive back from his worksite at Hinkley Point to take his daughters to school. Instead, his wife made the difficult decision to call for help when he didn’t show up to work the next morning. He was found unresponsive, and his family was told to prepare for the worst.

But there is hope. Damon is making progress, and his community is rallying around him. Friends and colleagues have set up a GoFundMe which has already raised over £23,000 to aid his recovery. Knowing that Damon, described as a hardworking family man and loyal friend, has touched so many lives, it’s no surprise to see so much support pouring in.
On 28th November, a charity rugby match will be hosted to raise further funds for Damon and his family. It’s a testament to his character that he once helped his rugby team during hard times, and now it’s the community’s turn to support him back.
If you feel moved to help, consider contributing to Damon’s recovery fund. Let’s stand by him and his family in this trying time. Damon, we’re all cheering you on for a full and speedy recovery. 💪🏉
