Exciting transformations are on the horizon for Porthcawl’s cherished seafront! Plans unveiled to rejuvenate this beloved Welsh coastal town include a fresh outdoor swimming pool, funfair rides, and even a splash pad. But that’s not all – there are also proposals for new homes, shops, and spaces for motor-homes and caravans.

After years of development by local authorities, new adjustments have been made to address community feedback. Concerns about infrastructure strain and preserving the town’s unique identity have been heard, leading to a reduction in housing numbers and building heights to ensure they blend beautifully into the surroundings.
To tackle parking issues, revamped car parks at Hillsboro and Coney Beach are in the works. The new vision for Salt Lake features a chic lido-style pool, alongside a gym, restaurant, and lively public space for events. Plus, Griffin Park will be tripling in size with a fabulous new “green corridor” leading down to the seafront, ideal for leisurely strolls and seaside fun.

The masterplan won’t leave out Sandy Bay, either. Under public ownership, plans include exciting events and activities, from surf schools to beach yoga! Expect iconic landmarks that both honour Porthcawl’s rich heritage and offer 45% more open public spaces.
Local leaders are committed to striking the right balance between new homes and community facilities, while also boosting tourism and business opportunities. And they’re keeping their promise to involve residents in shaping the town’s future.
Join a public event at the Hi Tide on 25 November to dive into the details of these exciting proposals. If all goes to plan, the transformation could begin as early as March 2027. Keep your eyes on Porthcawl – it’s all set to become a seaside star! 🌊✨
