In a shocking episode captured on CCTV, a woman in Wrexham turned a busy city centre into the scene of a horrifying crime. Cassie Evans, 34, was seen violently smashing a bottle and using it as a weapon to stab a man in the neck, leaving onlookers in disbelief. The attack took place on bustling Lord Street amidst shoppers, and the victim, Aled Roberts, suffered a severe neck wound.

The dramatic scene unfolded after Evans, who had reportedly consumed a litre of gin earlier, became agitated when a group of teenagers approached the area where she was with others. It escalated quickly, resulting in the brutal bottle attack that saw Evans charged with grievous bodily harm with intent.
Evans appeared in Mold Crown Court, where prosecuting lawyer John Philpotts detailed the shocking events of that August day. The court heard how the confrontation turned violent, leading to the terrifying assault for which Evans had already admitted her guilt.

As a result, Evans has been sentenced to 32 months in prison. She’ll spend half of this time behind bars before serving the remainder on licence in the community, after pleading guilty to wounding with intent and possession of an offensive weapon in public.

This disturbing incident highlights the dangers posed by excessive alcohol consumption and the severe consequences that follow such reckless actions. Let’s hope justice served also brings some solace to Mr. Roberts and the community affected by this unnerving event. Stay safe, folks, and be mindful of the situations around you.
