ππ¨ Flood Alert in Carmarthenshire! π¨π

The Cresselly Arms in Pontargothi has faced nature’s wrath once again. After relentless rain on Monday and Tuesday, the beloved riverside pub fell victim to rising waters from the River Cothi, filling it with floodwater and leaving parts of the pub submerged. Last November, they battled waist-deep watersβan unfortunate recurrence for this charming spot. π§οΈ

Co-owner John Davison shared his morning shock: “The river was already high and within an hour, it went wild.” Heartbreaking scenes as bits of trees crashed through windows and their idyllic beer garden turned into a mini lake. They’ve had to close their doors, with a major clean-up pending. π
Sadly, due to the pub’s location and frequent flooding history, they’re unable to secure insurance for the damage. In the summer, it’s one of West Wales’ serene spots, but the current situation paints a different picture. π’
Emergency services, including a crew from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue, arrived to assist, but the worry persists as more rain is forecasted, with flood warnings across Carmarthenshire and other regions. π§οΈπ
Let’s hope for clearer skies and support our community in these trying times. Have you visited this charming pub during drier days? Share your memories below. ποΈπ»
