Big news from Cardiff University! 🚨 They’ve announced a new wave of changes, but don’t worry, there are no compulsory redundancies this time around for non-academic staff. Instead, they’re offering voluntary redundancy packages as part of a restructuring effort.
Cardiff University is dealing with a hefty £30 million shortfall and tough decisions need to be made. Following on from past academic staff cuts, the spotlight is now on non-academic roles with new structures being proposed. Today, staff were called into meetings to discuss these changes and the consultation process, which will run until February 2026.
While there are roles available for everyone in the new structure, some posts and teams will see changes. If some staff feel this isn’t the right path for them anymore, they’re welcome to consider the voluntary redundancy scheme, which offers the same terms previously available to academic colleagues.
Dr Paula Sanderson, COO, said they’re aware not everyone might want to continue under the new structure and have opened the scheme to eligible staff.
