EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy endured a shocking injury while filming a live birth scene for the soap’s 40th-anniversary episode! Natalie, famous for her role as Sonia Fowler, was rehearsing a dramatic scene when she ended up with a fractured sternum. On Katherine Ryan’s podcast, Natalie shared how she got caught up in the intensity of the moment, acting out the birth scene so vividly that her sternum “popped out.” Ouch!

Despite the pain, Natalie powered through rehearsals but later found herself in the hospital. The doctor was pretty surprised, commenting that her injury was like one you’d expect from a car accident! Natalie even joked about the absurdity of acting herself into a broken bone.

As for her future, Natalie filmed her last scenes as Sonia on April 17. After more than three decades, she’s taking a much-deserved break. She says leaving EastEnders has been ‘freeing’ and she’s now enjoying having her evenings back. But don’t worry, she hinted that Sonia might pop back to Albert Square for a special storyline someday.

Here’s to a speedy recovery for Natalie and we can’t wait to see what she’ll do next! 📺❤️ #EastEnders #NatalieCassidy #BehindTheScenes #SoapStarCrush
