🚨 Save on Heating Bills This Winter! 🔥

With winter just around the corner, it’s time to tweak that radiator dial and keep your wallet happy! The savvy folks over at Which? have dished out some golden advice on how to cut down your heating costs.

🛑 First rule: Never set your radiator dial higher than three, unless it’s the room with the thermostat. Why? Cranking it up to five means you’re allowing lots of hot water through, hiking up those bills. Ideal for a quick warm-up, but not for the whole house!

🌡️ In bedrooms, aim for a dial setting between two and three. This keeps temps comfy between 15°C and 20°C while saving you some cash for those Christmas treats.
🏠 Heading out for a bit? Set your radiator to the frost symbol. This helps keep the room above 7°C, ensuring your pipes don’t freeze without wasting energy.
🔧 Maintenance tip: Bleed and clean radiators regularly for efficiency. If it’s chilly up top and warm down below, it’s time to bleed. Once done, check your boiler pressure. Keep it between 1 and 1.5 bars when off, and around 2 when on. If not, a quick re-pressurise might be necessary.
