A burglary has hit Hudo Lounge on Cardiff’s bustling Cowbridge Road East, a hotspot facing growing crime concerns. Just this Monday, the restaurant—part of the well-known Loungers chain—had its window shattered and till stolen. Locals have long voiced fears over rising public disorder, thefts, and disturbances in the area. Earlier in August, even the UK Home Secretary, Yvette Cooper, visited to hear out these issues from traders themselves.

The road, buzzing with shops, cafes, and eateries, is all too familiar with such incidents. Traders say any recent crime reductions seem to have vanished, and according to some, theft has become a daily nightmare. Jah Beauty’s Yagub Jollah shared hopes that increased police patrols might turn this tide, saying it would help put off troublemakers.

Pictures after the break-in reveal a boarded-up window at Hudo Lounge. South Wales Police have launched an investigation and ask anyone with insight to step forward. Businesses are being urged to tighten their security and confirm no cash is left onsite overnight. Police also advise being extra cautious of suspicious activities, especially in the early hours.
