Late-night cravings will have to wait in Caerphilly! The local council has rejected Philly Grill’s bid to stay open past 11pm. Awais Ahmad, the owner, wanted to extend closing time to 2am but councillors unanimously said no, citing concerns about noise and potential disturbances for nearby residents.

Despite Ahmad’s promise to control noise by turning off music, doing litter sweeps, and keeping doors closed after hours, the council stood firm. An environmental health officer highlighted worries about late-night noise from extraction equipment and parking issues.

Ahmad argued that other nearby businesses operate late hours and pointed out that none of the public objected during the consultation. However, the committee decided that current controls weren’t enough to ensure peace for locals.
What do you think? Should Philly Grill get a chance to serve the night owls, or is peace and quiet more important? Let us know your thoughts! 🌙🍟
