Exciting news for learner drivers! ππ
Big changes are coming to cut down those long driving test waiting times. Right now, you’d be waiting around 22 weeks on average, but help is finally on the way!

The government’s stepping up with fresh measures to bring things back to normal. Here’s what’s happening:

πΈ New rules by the DVSA mean only learner drivers can book and manage their own tests. This aims to stop tests from being resold at crazy prices by third parties.
πΈ Learners can only change their test bookings twice, and are more restricted on switching locations.
πΈ Military driving examiners are stepping in for up to a year to help clear the backlog, adding about 6,500 extra tests.
Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander is leading the charge and says they’re tackling exploitation and restoring fairness for learners eager to hit the road. She promises thousands of extra tests will be delivered next year. ποΈ
Minister for the Armed Forces, Al Carns, highlights the commitment of military examiners stepping in to keep Britain moving. ποΈπ¨
But that’s not all β the government is clamping down on unfair booking practices and bots. New rules are in place to ensure tests arenβt being resold at higher prices, making sure learners pay just the standard fee (Β£62 weekdays / Β£75 weekends & bank holidays). π·
These changes are backed by the public, with a whopping 70% supporting the call to restrict bookings. Over 40% are onboard with the changes to locations and swaps, ensuring local centres remain accessible.
Ready to get behind the wheel? The changes will roll out through 2026, so it’s only a matter of time! Drive safely and see you on the road soon! π£οΈ #DriveTime #LearnerDrivers #DVSAChanges
