β οΈ Storm Claudia has caused chaos in Wales, bringing severe flooding and a major incident has been declared. π¨ Homes and businesses in Monmouth have been evacuated and roads shut, as the River Monnow and River Wye rise dangerously high, echoing infamous floods from past years. Natural Resources Wales has issued 51 flood alerts, with 4 severe warnings indicating a “significant risk to life.”

Teams are working tirelessly, battling fast-moving waters and tricky conditions, to keep everyone safe. The South Wales Fire Service, alongside emergency services, are conducting rescues and ensuring people are moved to safety.
Area Manager Matt Jones is urging the public to stay clear of flooded routes to let emergency services do their job. If you’re in immediate danger, please call 999. π

The flooding is still causing havoc despite the worst rainfall passing. Itβs crucial to avoid swollen riverbanks and not attempt to drive or walk through floodwaters. If travel is necessary, plan ahead and follow diversions.
