Heartbreaking loss turned into an inspiring tribute: Jake Keogh honours his beloved mum, Karen Andrews, who passed suddenly in 2018 at just 52. Found by her son while getting ready for a night out with friends, she tragically suffered a brain aneurysm but left a legacy of love and kindness.

Karen, who dedicated over 20 years as a nurse, was cherished by her peers at Clatterbridge Hospital. At her funeral, the nursing team paid tribute with a guard of honour, celebrating the life of someone who was “special, funny, caring, and generous.”

To celebrate her memory, Jake embarked on a remarkable 52-hour walk, symbolising every year of her life. During his journey, which concluded precisely seven years after her passing, he covered miles through day and night, overcoming excruciating pain without giving up. “Seeing the sunrise and reaching the finish line with loved ones cheering was the best moment of my life,” he shares.
Moreover, Jake’s walk aims to raise awareness around men’s mental health, reminding us all of the importance of openness and community support. His message? Turning a difficult time into an opportunity for positive change can help break the stigma and encourage others to share their stories of grief and mental health struggles.
Jake, the youngest sibling among brothers Karl, Zacc, and stepsister Hayley, found solace through the support of friends and strangers. Their kindness reinforced the power of sharing personal stories.
