🌧️💪 Community Spirit Shines as Monmouth Begins Flood Recovery 💪🌧️

Monmouth’s streets are bustling as locals unite to tackle the aftermath of Storm Claudia’s devastating floods. Homes and businesses are counting on your support to bounce back from this challenging time. 🏠🛍️

Monmouthshire County Council is already in action, collaborating with the Welsh Government to secure much-needed assistance. Meetings between town and county councillors are paving the way for a massive clean-up operation.

Cllr Jane Lucas, representing Monmouth’s hard-hit Osbaston ward, assures residents that their community won’t be left in the lurch: “We’ve started clearing up. You’ll see more people helping to clean out shops and homes, with basements being pumped and rubbish collected.”
Overflowing basements? No problem! Dehumidifiers are on the scene, and a help centre is open to provide further assistance. The British Red Cross is also stepping in with cleaning supplies and a rest centre at Monmouth Leisure Centre to support evacuated residents.
Parts of the town that have never flooded before have been affected, highlighting the urgent need for community support and solid flood defences. The county council leader is in talks with the Welsh Government to explore all avenues for help.
Despite the chaos, the town’s spirit remains unbroken. As clean-up efforts forge ahead, residents and businesses are calling out for your support to rejuvenate Monmouth. Spread the word, lend a helping hand, and let’s get this beautiful town back on its feet. 👐💼
Stay safe, Monmouth, and know that brighter days are ahead! 🌈 #MonmouthStrong #CommunitySupport #StormClaudiaRecovery
