Sad news from the Isle of Skye: The body of 57-year-old Matthias Beutin, a missing walker, has been found on the remote mountain of Blà Bheinn. Last seen at the Blaven car park near Loch Slapin on October 9th, Matthias was reported missing when he failed to contact his family. Clad in a blue waterproof jacket and carrying a small rucksack, Matthias set out for a mountain adventure that sadly took a tragic turn.

The search, a huge collaboration involving local mountain rescue teams, Police Scotland, and even the Royal Air Force Mountain Rescue Service, ended on November 8th. The discovery was made near Coire Dubh, and although the death is being treated as unexplained, authorities don’t suspect foul play.

Blà Bheinn, known for its rugged and isolated beauty within the Cuillin Ridge, is a beloved destination for climbers and hikers. Our thoughts are with Matthias’ family during this difficult time as they come to terms with their loss in such a hauntingly beautiful place. Stay safe on the trails, everyone, and always keep loved ones informed of your whereabouts.
