🚗 An admin worker’s attempt at a three-point turn in Brackla went disastrously wrong, ending with a crash and charges of driving under the influence. Amanda Lloyd, a 47-year-old from Bridgend, admitted to having had a drink before getting behind the wheel, attributing her actions to “complacency” after battling and overcoming a prior alcohol addiction.

Amanda, who previously worked at Bridgend College, was hospitalised with cirrhosis—a condition related to severe liver damage. Despite doctors’ grim prognosis, she made a significant recovery and stayed sober for years. However, a momentary lapse saw her driving carelessly, resulting in a collision and a subsequent positive alcohol reading on the scene. Unfortunately, she failed to provide a breath sample at the station.

Now working part-time, Amanda has no previous convictions. Her lawyer highlighted her cooperation and expressed that she’s intent on receiving the help she needs. Amanda doesn’t plan to drive again after her upcoming ban and is focused on her recovery.

Facing a 32-month driving ban, a 12-month community order, rehabilitation requirements, and fines, Amanda expressed deep remorse and is determined to make better decisions moving forward. Her story is a poignant reminder of the struggles many face with addiction and the importance of continued support. Let’s hope Amanda finds a brighter path ahead. 🌟 #RoadToRecovery #StaySafe #BridgendNews
