Craig Bellamy has come out swinging in defence of Swansea City’s Liam Cullen, calling any doubts about his place on the national team “nonsense.” After Wales’ massive 7-1 victory over North Macedonia, the spotlight was on goal-scoring stars like Harry Wilson and Brennan Johnson. But Bellamy, the Wales head coach, made sure Cullen wasn’t overlooked.
While Cullen didn’t score in the World Cup qualifier, Bellamy was quick to praise his strategic mind and off-the-ball skills in helping his teammates shine. “Cullen’s intelligence and movement were crucial,” he remarked, emphasising how the forward set the stage for his teammates to excel.
Despite a challenging season with Swansea, scoring just once in 15 appearances, Bellamy sees Cullen’s capabilities as pivotal, especially in a team that thrives on fluidity and quick transitions. “He creates space and opportunities for the others,” Bellamy added, underscoring the collaborative spirit within the team.
Swansea City, still without a permanent head coach after Alan Sheehan’s exit, faces Bristol City soon. With ongoing talks to secure Vitor Matos, Cullen and his club will be hoping for a turnaround in their Championship campaign. Can Cullen’s international form inspire his club performances? Swansea fans certainly hope so! ⚽️🔥
