🐾 Are you secretly undermining your dog’s happiness? A recent report has shed light on a common habit that could be affecting your furry friend more than you realise. It turns out that while most Brits are devoted to their dogs’ wellbeing, leaving them alone for too long could be detrimental.

The Dogs Trust’s latest Happy Place Index reveals that our pups are often left solo for an average of five hours, surpassing the recommended limit of four. This extra hour may not seem like much, but it can lead to separation anxiety, resulting in behaviours like whining or destructive chewing.

🐶 So, what can you do to support your canine companion? Small changes, like arranging for a midday check-in, hiring a dog walker, or simply shortening periods of absence, can make a huge difference. Mark Rowlands, Professor of Philosophy and author of “The Happiness of Dogs,” emphasizes that dogs thrive on consistency and companionship.
Interestingly, two-thirds of respondents in the survey admitted to choosing cosy nights in with their dogs over other plans, and more than half enjoy bringing their pets to social gatherings. But as the temperature drops, the number of walks tends to plummet. In colder months, up to half of owners walk their dogs less frequently.
With the festive season around the corner, it’s the perfect time to commit to more quality moments with your pup. Whether it’s winter walks or simply spending more time together at home, every little effort counts! 🐕❤️
Don’t let your pup face the blues this winter. A little extra love and attention can keep their tail wagging all season long! 🎄🥳
