π Meet Harri Deaves: The Heart and Soul of Pontyclun Rugby Club! πΎπͺ

While many dream of wearing the Wales jersey, Harri Deaves has earned his cap in a truly unique fashion. This 24-year-old dynamo isn’t just making waves on the pitch; he’s a jack-of-all-trades at Pontyclun RFC, where he cooks, coaches, and even handles laundry chores!

Ever the community man, Harri was spotted building bonfires and sorting kits, showcasing his dedication to the grassroots club that’s close to his heart. Despite his fame, he’s always back at the Badgers, coaching youth teams and lending a hand wherever needed, from junior women’s rugby to cooking up a storm in the kitchen for club dinners.
Pontyclun’s vice-president, Ned Probyn, praises Harri’s commitment and love for local rugby. “He’s a legend at 24, involved in everything,” says Probyn. Whether it’s stepping in as a makeshift chef or leading the junior teams, Harri’s generosity knows no bounds.
π With his hard-earned call-up to the national team, Harri’s debut against the mighty All Blacks this Saturday will be a momentous occasion, not just for his family but for the entire community. He’s only the second Pontyclun native to wear the Wales jersey since 1926!
Justin Tipuric, former Wales stalwart and current coach at the Ospreys, lauds Harri’s prowess and work ethic. “A guy that goes above and beyond,” Tipuric remarks, reflecting on Harri’s devotion both on and off the field.
Now, as he steps onto the international stage, the entire village rallies behind their star player with customised yellow bucket hats and tickets ready. Harri’s story is one of passion and old-school club spirit, proving he’s not just a rugby player but a cherished figure in his community.π
Let’s cheer on Harri this Saturday as he takes another leap, wearing the Wales colours with pride and continuing to inspire everyone back home! ππβ€οΈ
