🌟 Rugby Recap: Wales vs. New Zealand 🌟
Despite a tough 52-26 defeat to New Zealand, there were some standout moments for Wales in this weekend’s showdown. Let’s break it down:
**Winners:**
1. **Tom Rogers** – What a performance! Scoring a hat-trick against the All Blacks is no small feat. Rogers impressed with his pace and agility, potentially securing his spot as Wales’ go-to wing.
2. **Joe Hawkins** – Back after two long years, Hawkins didn’t disappoint. Acting as a second playmaker, his vision and creativity opened up the All Blacks’ defence, contributing greatly to the team’s attacking efforts.
3. **Dafydd Jenkins** – What a warrior! Jenkins tackled fiercely and carried energetically, even causing a crucial charge-down. His physicality shone, making his looming absence against South Africa keenly felt.
4. **Louis Rees-Zammit** – The speedster is back! After dabbling in American football, Louis showed he hasn’t lost his touch, sparking life into the game with his blistering pace and aerial skills.
**Losers:**
1. **Taine Plumtree** – Despite making the most tackles, Plumtree’s errors and discipline issues were costly. If he can tidy up his game, his natural talent might shine through.
2. **Wales’ Back Row** – The unit struggled in the contact area, leaving Wales without much turnover success. The absence of breakdown specialist Tommy Reffell was glaring, highlighting selection woes.
3. **Gareth Thomas** – Usually reliable, Thomas had an off day, with a costly penalty and yellow card. He’ll need to step up with the formidable South African scrum next.
While it wasn’t the result Wales hoped for, individual performances showed promise. The matchup served as a learning curve, paving a path for improvements. Here’s to bouncing back stronger! 🏉💪
