Candice Warner, the wife of former cricketer David Warner, opened up about a dark chapter in her life that almost led her to contemplate suicide. Back in 2007, Candice was caught in the public eye after a private moment with rugby star Sonny Bill Williams was sensationalised in the media. The incident resulted in years of relentless “slut-shaming” and online abuse, leaving her feeling like there was no escape.

In a candid chat on the Mental As Anyone podcast, Candice recalled a pivotal moment when she considered ending it all but was saved by a call to her brother who rushed to ensure her safety. She described the overwhelming shame and public humiliation she felt, and how it pushed her family to relocate to Perth in search of peace.

Fast forward to today, Candice and David are happily married and proud parents to three daughters. Reflecting on her past struggles, Candice shared her dream for a quieter life and how she cherishes the family life they’ve built despite being in the public eye.
Candice wanted to remind everyone that mistakes are a part of life, and despite the media frenzy, she’s not defined by her past. Her journey is a testament to resilience and the power of family support during tough times.
