After visiting a health centre in Prestwich, Jay opted for an Uber due to a long wait with a local taxi firm. Initially quoted just over £12 for the short trip home, things quickly went awry.
Jay faced over an hour’s wait for a pick-up, followed by a prolonged journey due to alleged roadworks. The shock came when three charges—totalling £47.06—hit his account! After a heated exchange with Uber, Jay managed to get his money back and received a £5 apology credit. But the experience left a sour taste, making him reconsider his future with the app.
“If bills come out and you’ve budgeted carefully, unexpected charges aren’t what you want,” Jay shared. Now, he’s looking at sticking to local taxi firms and even considering trying out Bolt instead.
Uber acknowledged the issue, citing a change in the pick-up location for the fare confusion and assured Jay it was all sorted out. Despite the resolution, Jay’s trust in the app is shaken.
