Vitor Matos is setting the stage at Swansea City with a clear challenge for his players. After their 2-1 loss to Derby County, the Swans are hovering just two points above the drop zone. But Matos has a game plan to spark a turnaround!
In his latest press conference, Matos emphasised the need for “hunger” and “desire” on the pitch. He’s building his selection policy around effort: only those showing real anger and 100% commitment will make the cut. Talk about upping the ante!
One thing is clear – Matos is all about the counter-press. He sees it as crucial for success and insists it must become part of the team’s instinct and mentality. Time on the training ground is pivotal, although it’s been a tight squeeze since his recent takeover.
But it’s not just about defence. Matos wants the team to dominate with the ball, using possession to unsettle opponents and create real opportunities. He’s urging the squad to ditch any frustration and channel their energy into winning the ball back fast, creating that all-important momentum.
The message? It’s all about effort, intensity, and intent. Matos has laid down the gauntlet – now it’s time for the team to rise to the challenge! Can the Swans deliver? 🦢⚽️
