It’s that magical time of year again, but Cowbridge is treading a slightly different path for its Christmas parade this year. Due to massive vehicles rolling through town earlier, our usual festive lights won’t make it in time for the parade on 30th November. But hold onto your Santa hats—it’s still going to be a celebration to remember! 🌟

While the main street may lack the usual glow, the tradition continues with a light switch-on outside the town hall. You can still enjoy a fabulous line-up featuring a real-life reindeer, a dazzling laser show, amazing performances, and vibrant Christmas markets. 🎉

The delay in re-installing the lights came about following the need to accommodate heavy transport – the catenary wires were taken down and, upon inspection, found to be too corroded to replace quickly. New wires are being put up, but the lights won’t be sparkling until at least next week.

The Town Council has been working non-stop to solve this hitch, exploring every option to get those twinkling lights up, but time just wasn’t on their side. However, they promise Sunday will still be spectacular.

Cllr Mark Wilson of the Vale of Glamorgan Council explains that safety and public well-being always come first, as the original wires were removed to support abnormal loads on the roads. They assure us that they remain committed to lighting up Cowbridge—and are fully ready to assist the Town Council in bringing those festive lights back as soon as possible. 💡

Let’s come together and make this an unforgettable event, proving that Cowbridge’s festive spirit shines brighter than any bulb! ✨
